Matielyn Jones did not respond to the questionnaire.

A native of New Orleans who moved to Gwinnett County in high school, Jones has been a teacher in the local school system, a staffer on President Obama’s 2008 campaign in North Carolina, a freelance consultant in Virginia, a charter school administrator in Ohio, and most recently a researcher on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism. She ran for the seat in 2020, losing to her current opponent, Clint Dixon. According to her campaign website, her priorities, if elected, include expansion of Medicaid, protection of reproductive choice, equity in education, an increase in the minimum wage, protection of voting rights, a transformation in policing, and a push to prevent gun violence.
