Campaigning for: State Senate District 5

Sen. Sheikh Rahman did not respond to the survey.

He was elected to the state Senate in 2019 and is seeking a second term. A native of Bangladesh, Rahman is the first immigrant and first Asian American to serve in the Georgia State Senate. He is also the first Muslim Georgia legislator. On his campaign website, he says he backs expansion of Medicaid, championing an increase in the minimum wage to $10 and then later $15, and committed to creating a path to citizenship for Georgia’s undocumented immigrants. He has also said that the Supreme Court ruling on abortion will help his party.
