A longtime Cobb County resident and educator, Smith has been a member of the Georgia House since early 2013 and is seeking re-election. According to his campaign website, Smith passed legislation during his tenure to allow children who move during an academic year to stay at their current school. He sponsored a bill to require early childcare programs and schools to demonstrate to families and law enforcement that they are prepared for emergencies. He also proposed legislation to examine the current criteria used to evaluate a school’s performance. If re-elected, he vows to continue to advocate for local businesses, seniors, and great schools that can help move Cobb County forward.
