Campaigning for: State School Superintendent

Richard Woods did not respond to the questionnaire. A veteran educator, Woods is seeking a third, four-year term as state school superintendent.

On his campaign website, Woods lists of his achievements in office include his push to completely eliminate Common Core as the standard for teaching and replacing it with “Georgia-grown” standards for all students. Woods and Gov. Brian Kemp have both sought to de-emphasize standardized testing. Woods and Kemp also have worked together to raise teachers’ salaries. Wood also has backed Kemp’s efforts to ban teaching of “divisive” racial concepts in the classroom.
