Beverly Jones, a Stone Mountain resident for 24 years, is the first Black female to serve as the city’s mayor. Jones’ campaign emphasized a need to rebrand the city — which is associated with the mountain, a combination of natural beauty and historical ties to the Confederacy — and reunite a divided City Council. Before holding office, Jones previously served on the City Council. This mayor could not be reached.
